The Board Chairman has called for an election. Nominations open April 6, 2026. The Non-chief District I position is for a term beginning July 1, 2026 and ending on June 30, 2031. The incumbent, Tyrone Warren, has notified the Board of his intent to submit a nomination petition and to be a candidate for the position in the event an election is held. A member who is not a chief of police shall be elected to the board of trustees for a term of five years from a district to be called Non-chief District I, which shall be composed of the parishes of Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia, DeSoto, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Rapides, Red River, Richland, Sabine, Tensas, Union, Vernon, Webster, West Carroll, West Feliciana, and Winn.
